I cannot tell you how disappointed I am in the Ontario Conservative Government for putting forward this bill. Ontario is home to over 200 endangered species, and is also the ancestral home of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, Cree, Algonquin, and other indigenoud peoples. The land you wish to develope is protected by treatise and policies for a reason. This so called "red tape" you want to cut is there to protect vulnerable habitats, species and indigenous history. Not only is this disrespectful to the land you inhabit and those you share it with, it also shows a lack of creativity. I am embarrassed to have a provincial government who is not creative enough to solve our problems without destroying the natural heritage of Ontario, something you should be proud of. We have the waterfall Capitol of the World here. Did you know that? It's in my city, Hamilton, where barn swallow conservation efforts is one of our finest features, and just one example of a species that we will lose if decisions like this are left unchecked. As an Ontario teacher, I am officially submitting this comment on behalf of my students, who will have to nothing to iherit but an ugly, gutted, barren, factory wasteland when they graduate, unless the adults in their lives do something about it.
Do better,
Amanda Le Blanc - Ontario resident, teacher, artist and overall fedup individual.
