These proposed changes to the Endangered Species Act are a terrible idea and will have direct impacts on the wellbeing of species in Ontario. Without strong legislation species, especially those at risk, slip through the cracks and are harmed by development plans. The biodiversity of Ontario should be a point of pride and something to protect, not seen as something that gets in the way of business. I am 21 and want to still have species like the Barn Owl and the Monarch Butterfly around in Ontario for my future children to see. I’m outraged that protections for them and the long list of at risk plants and animals are trying to be lowered.
