I think the government is trying to skirt the existing and valuable laws that exist to protect us and the environment for personal and financial gain.
They should absolutely be held accountable for any issues that arise, now and in the future. To say it is inefficient to protect life itself, for the sake of industrial efforts, is extremely idiotic and short sighted. We can see how the climate continues to wreak havoc and cause destruction around the world, and here at home. To encourage further unnecessary death and destruction is foolish, and frankly embarassing.
