This Bill is a travesty and a disgrace. It has absolutely no value other than to weaken environmental protection for the sake of industry and only serves corporations. What is worse is that it intentionally threatens democratic processes and fails to recognize actual concrete science. There is absolutely no merit to it, particularly this nonsense about the special economic zones. I urge the Ontario government to withdraw Bill 5 in its entirety and instead work with environmental experts, Indigenous leaders and the public to strengthen — not dismantle — our systems of environmental protection.
