I strongly oppose Bill 5 which proposes to repeal the Endangered Species Act. We absolutely need strong protections of at-risk wildlife and the ecosystems they depend on. We also depend on natural ecosystems for flood control, clean water, clean air, food and climate mitigation. The proposed replacement is very weak and not enforceable; it will lead to the further decline of species already on the brink. This deregulation will jeopardizes long-term ecological and community health which will end up costing Ontario citizens more in the long run.

I am also completely opposed to “special economic zones” that would allow cabinet to dispense with proper environmental assessment, public input or Indigenous consultation.

I really don't want weaker protections or less say in decisions that affect the province’s land, water and future.

You should really withdraw Bill 5 in its entirety and instead work with independent scientists, Indigenous leaders and the public to strengthen our systems of environmental protection.

Protecting nature is not a barrier to economic growth. It’s the foundation of a healthy, resilient and just society.
