Elimination of the Species Conservation Action Agency results in the elimination of proper attention to the subject matter, as well as potential loss of experts within the field. The government of Ontario should not be eliminating this agency.
Development projects should not be able to commence without full approval and full environmental assessment. This may result in further complications (dishonesty surrounding initiation points of projects, actions may become unregulated, and projects may proceed further than what is approved, issues surrounding initiated then terminated projects, etc.).
Projects initiating without proper assessment may result in groundwater and surface water contamination and habitat destruction (potentially irreversible with endangered species). A functioning and healthy ecosystem is required for the future of Ontarians.
As of now, it is in Ontario's best interest to make a more streamlined and transparent process, without putting the environment at risk.
Leave the endangered species act as is. We owe it to ourselves and future generations.
