As an Ontario resident, voter, and taxpayer I do not approve of this proposed bill for two reasons. First, we need to protect the land and the people. We should not be installing shortcuts to climate disaster, loss of biodiversity, nor to further harm to indigenous peoples. Loss of habitat is one of the biggest reasons we lose permanent and migratory species. Secondly, we have already seen how the current administration makes decisions regarding land use and zoning. Doug Ford made Ontario a laughingstock due to the ongoing spa situation. He has sold off the best farmland in Canada to developer friends to make shitty housing with no supporting infrastructure or cultural draw that no one can afford anyway. His greed outweighs his desire to meaningfully invest in Ontario. We cannot allow him to make corrupt deals more easily.
