Ontario's forests, waterways, and wetlands are incredibly important to sustaining life in Ontario and protecting both infrastructure and people against severe flooding as we have previously seen in the summer of 2024. With climate disasters on the rise, we can expect to see more of these as Ontario's government makes it easier to develop on the very lands that act as transition zones between ecosystems and keep the environment in balance. I heavily disagree with the proposed changes to the Endangered Species Act. We must respect Indigenous sovereignty and delicate ecosystems with which we are inherently a part of. I am concerned with the erosion of this act and instead the Endangered Species Act must be upheld and strengthened.
