As a lifelong resident of Ontario, I strongly oppose Bill 5 and the threat it poses to our environment.
This bill is a step in the wrong direction. We are in the middle of a climate and ecological crisis, and now is the time to strengthen environmental protections not weaken them.
I’m tired of seeing green spaces paved over and wetlands destroyed in the name of “development.” These areas aren’t empty land - they’re vital ecosystems that protect our air, water, and biodiversity. Once they’re gone, they’re gone for good. No amount of short term corporate profit is worth that loss.
Bill 5 seems designed to benefit developers and big business at the expense of everyday people and the planet we rely on. I expect my government to protect the public interest - not to hand it over to those who already have too much power and influence.
If this government is serious about fighting climate change and preserving a livable future, then Bill 5 must be stopped or dramatically changed. I urge you to reject it and stand up for the environment — for our communities today and for future generations.
It's disgraceful the way this government has paved Ontario Place, attempted to remove bike lanes, bulldozed farmland for highway 413, and REPEATEDLY IGNORED data of all types : economic, environmental, opinion polling, industry, and scientific.
I have nothing but shame that this is how the Ontario government carries on - trotting on human rights and good long term economics, for cheap thrills and bad plans.
