I oppose bill 5. I support stronger Environmental protections. I am against allowing the government to override the law in any way. The law exists because we put it there. If we want to remove it, public oversight should be absolute. The government is not above the law. I am also against shortcuts for industry: we created and legislated protections for the environment for good reason. I feel very strongly that industry needs to be industrious and come up with Solutions that work within the Environmental Protections in place. The industry that can figure that out will win in the market. That's how it's supposed to work. Shortcuts for industry will devastate the environment. They will only do as much stewardship as they are regulated to do. Please don't let Doug Ford enrich his cronies by giving him a free pass.
