I strongly oppose Bill five and the fact that the pro proposed Bill put emphasis on economic development at the expense of wildlife and Natural Habitat. It also gives less control to the municipalities that are always more in touch with the immediate environment and the place where the taxpayer lives. I am worried about a government that is constantly pushing the boundaries of control as it pertains to our environment. Many decisions are irreversible, and the price will be paid by our children and grandchildren streamlining should not mean getting rid of checks and balances that were put in place to protect vulnerable environments and vulnerable species
“Allowing the province to designate “special economic zones” including geographic areas, “trusted proponents” or projects that would be exempt from provincial legislation and regulations, and from municipal by-laws
Replace species-at-risk permitting requirements with a registration-first approach that would allow work to begin immediately upon registration “
This is not good enough for Ontarians. Our province deserves more protection from companies making a lot of money at the expense of the environment .
