Canada has some of the best biodiversity in the world. This includes endangered and at risk species that as humans we are responsible for.
Doug Ford and his cabinet have chosen to not permit certain types of multi-family buildings that could be built without the complete obliteration of our landscape in order to pad the pockets of his cronies who build unaffordable large single family dwellings on large plots of land, which will contribute absolutely nothing to helping with the housing crisis. In the last 2 terms, the Ford government has demonstrated several times that it cannot be trusted with our land and how it should be used (the attempted evisceration of the Green Belt, and the complete destruction of Ontario Place).
The land, its indigenous flora a fauna need to be protected, and if that means environmental impact assessments, then good. We are custodians of the trees, plants, and animals, all of which enrich everyone's life in one way or another, and destroying that to pad pockets is poor stewardship.
