Regulation-free zones are super dangerous, trying to build things quickly isn't worth risking major infrastructure disasters if things aren't built to regulation, even if the current government only uses it safely once the law is on the books any future government could misuse it.
And for the conservation act, only protecting dens/habitats where a species nests, breeds, or rests in is functionally useless; species need healthy ecosystems to survive and that requires more than just the one tree they happen to sleep in.
Recovery plans are also essential to protecting Ontario's natural heritage, protection on its own is insufficient because there are often multiple causes of species decline and habitat loss is only one.
