I do not support these changes at all. It is clear to me that this propsal will do nothing more than relinquish all government power to protect our species diversity and the natural beauty of our province, especially those at risk. How can we protect our natural beauty from extinction if anyone can destroy natural habitat by simply registering? We can't because this bill redefines habitat as only the hole that an animal sleeps in. What is even the point of registering for permits, if activities may start regardless of approval? There is none as once the activity starts, the proponent could have cause to wish to sue if their approval fails, costing taxpayers and businesses. These changes to the endangered species act must not come to pass, or I fear my children and their children will never be able to witness the beauty I have seen in our province. Ontario needs stronger environmental protections and not shortcuts for industry without public oversight. Economic growth should not come at significant cost of any species in Ontario
