This Bill 5 should not be enacted. It will destroy hundreds of years of beautiful land, as well as destroying farmland. This government has encouraged us to shop local, buy local, for Ontario to be self-sufficient as much as possible. Where will our food come from when you pave over farmland and discourage farmers frm diversifying? This government has declared loudly over and over that it will protect the workers of Ontario. If there are no environmental assessments done, thousands of specially trained environmental assessors will lose their jobs. So does that mean that this government only support its chosen workers, but not all of Ontario workers? You will be the ones who will be responsible for these lost jobs. When professional environmental assessments are done, it does not take them long to do the job, so that can't be your excuse for the so-called 'red tape'. You just don't want the results of the assessments to ruin your plans. Or, perhaps things move slowly because of inefficiencies in your Ministry. This is a beautiful province because of all of its resources, diversities, and people. Tourists are not going to come here if we lost the beauty that brings them here. Instead of encouraging more cars to be travelling on our highways, perhaps we should be looing at more trains and be creative about fast travel and where we build.
