The proposed changes would repeal the Endangered Species Act. Just think about that for second. "Repeal the Endangered Species Act." Why would somebody want to do this? It sounds like something Cruella de Vil would do. Why would the government want to destroy nature and kill endangered animals? Does that sound like a normal thing that a civilized society would do in 2025?

There are plenty of ways to "unleash the economy" without victimizing wildlife and destroying natural habitats. Trying to override science-based conservation to funnel money towards developers is a dangerous step backwards, undermines decades of environmental progress, and threatens Ontario's natural heritage.

The replacement act, Special Economic Zones Act, also marks a dangerous step granting the government dictatorial powers to override social, environmental, and human rights to serve the interests of Doug Ford and developers. It's a power grab that echoes what is happening right now in America. If this goes through, we may as well start calling the Ontario Conservative's DOGE: Doug's Ontario Government forEver.

If you care about the future of the province, if you care about making Ontario livable for decades to come, if you care about science and Indigenous rights at all, you will oppose these changes and preserve the ESA.

Withdraw this bill and engage in meaningful consultation with Indigenous communities, scientists, and the public to strengthen environmental protections, not weaken them.
