I am writing to express my strong opposition to the recent changes proposed to the Ontario Endangered Species Act.
These amendments threaten the very foundation of our province's biodiversity and the protection of vulnerable species that rely on this legislation for their survival.
The Endangered Species Act was designed to safeguard Ontario's unique ecosystems and the species that inhabit them. By weakening these protections, we risk irreversible damage to our natural heritage, which not only affects wildlife but also impacts the health of our environment and communities.
It is crucial that we prioritize conservation and sustainable practices over short-term economic gains. There is no need to help fund developers at the expense of our ecosystems. Projects do not need to be built solely for this purpose. The loss of biodiversity can have far-reaching consequences, including the disruption of ecosystems, loss of natural resources, and diminished quality of life for future generations.
I urge you to reconsider these changes and to uphold the principles of the Endangered Species Act. We must work together to protect our wildlife and ensure that Ontario remains a thriving habitat for all species.
Thank you for your attention to this critical issue.
