Regarding ERO- 025-0380,
I am truly disgusted in the changes here on the Endangered Species Act, and the Species Conservation Act. All this is for, is to allow infastructure to be pushed through and approved without proper investigation into how it will effect the environment. This is being changed, not to further protection, not to continue to protect, but to erase protection and allow the current government, to further destroy areas of our province that house these endangered species.
These wooded, marshy, agricultural lands are not for the province or neighboring cities to consume for housing and highways. This Act, in the past, has denied large developers the ability to bulldoze their way to increased profits, with no regard for our animals, birds, reptiles and vegetation that are on the current Endangered species list.
The reason the Act was built the way it is, was to ensure that nothing was done without proper investigation and so there were no loop holes to allow for developers and the government to forge their way to approvals that should not be granted. The Ford government knows this, they struggled with it last term and this is the first step to now bulldoze and destroy.
Someone needs to follow the money, pockets are being lined in order to make this happen.
What happened to supporting the people and what they want?
What has happened to supporting our lands for the future?
I understand the housing is a critical issue, but Ford and the developers needs to concentrate on a solution like decreasing the footprint for these housing developments, getting back to a 1000 sq ft bungalow and cast aside the 3 storey, 3500 sq ft homes that will not help the lower and middle class that are struggleing. Why are decisions made on profit margin and not common sense anymore.?
