This proposal sets a dangerous predent for our future.

It damages our planet which is of course, contributed to the harms caused by climate change, jeopardizes our health and stands to ruin the quality of our local air, water and land.

Second, as a Canadian first, our identity as a nation is very much tied up in our land. Our major industries come from the land; our major landmarks, the Indigenous people who have been here for millennia, the places we go to enjoy ourselves as tourists, for cottages, to exercise etc. This bill essentially declares "open season" on a core part of our identity, which, in today's extremely unstable political climate is a dangerous move that weakens our national integrity and unity.

And finally, this bill comes with a set of priorities: it places the short-term (and they will be only short term) gains for a few over the futures of our children. What good is any of the wealth that we may amass as a province if our children are not able to enjoy it?
What kind of adults are we if we allow ourselves to grow up with a diverse landscape, and cleaner air and water, only to deny those same things to the next generation?
The money we may temporarily gain from this will run out, and then what? Our land will be decimated; our wetlands won't be around to filter water and animals will die and move on to other provinces.

A Premier's duty is to put the needs of the people before their own. This bill seeks to achieve the exact opposite. It cannot he allowed to pass.
