I oppose Bill 5. This bill will effectively make wildlife protection a political choice, not a scientific one. Economic development cannot trump the protection of living things. There is already so much destruction of habitats everywhere I look in Ontario, even where I live in a more rural area. I would advocate for changes that provide MORE protection, not less. As a parent of young children, moves like this are very frightening. The amazing natural environment of Ontario is one of the most amazing things the province has to offer and you're being very shortsighted to risk destroying that in favour of economic development. You can have nature and economic growth but you need to do it in a responsible way.
