I oppose this Bill. Protecting our species and environment should involve a permit vs just registering. Even when rules are not very strict they are circumnavigated by individuals and corporations because they can be. My anecdotal story is when numerous large, mature trees were clear cut from a property designated for an apartment building in Guelph. The city was called and the construction company had not obtained proper permits or paid proper fees to remove those mature trees which impacts wildlife, but also impacts the individuals living in the homes that bordered this property with less access and exposure to nature - arguably a selling point of the property to begin with. Even when due process is not difficult (a fee and notice to the city) it is not followed by developers. Registering only, without permit will make the destruction of our environment faster and harder to remediate later. I will reiterate that I oppose this Bill.
