I read this document, although getting through the verbiage was not easy. It seemed repetitive while reinforcing the provincial government's bottom line. That bottom line is to obviously make it much easier for development to happen more quickly in what those in the know would deem environmentally sensitive areas.
The premier has made known his priorities in his pushing development in Ontario's Green Belt north of Toronto and his pushing highways unnecessarily through natural areas forever changing them in a negative way.
I live in a rural area of Ontaro. In my experience, any time I have tried to contact the MNR about anything, I have hit nothing but dead ends. An MNR employee basically told me that they didn't have the manpower and that I should contact my MPP about this. The provincial government could start by sufficiently funding the MNR to properly do their job in monitoring and protecting the natural environment of Ontario. Expecting that "volunteers" will monitor and advise in all types of protected and environmentally spaces is unrealistic and a shirking of the province's and MNR's duties.
Once species and natural spaces are not important and not prioritized, we are short changing future generations of Ontarians. I urge you to prioritize nature, particularly those species which are in danger of being gone forever. We will all be better for it.
