The current legislation is designed to protect endangered species. However, it’s clear that this new act disregards wildlife well-being, favoring habitat destruction over restoring or reusing already disturbed land. In my community alone, countless abandoned or underutilized spaces could be developed instead of destroying vital ecosystems.

Humans are not the only beings that matter on this planet. Destroying habitats that endangered species rely on will only accelerate climate change, which in turn will harm marginalized communities—those already facing the greatest hardships. This seems like another "cost savings" effort made my the government that will actually cost more in the long-term when we are dealing with even more wildfires, and flooding.
