The act claims to retain all the responsibilities of COSSARO but then gives the government the power to override/ ignore their capacity to designate species at risk. This is both disingenuous and undemocratic similar to the omnibus bill that stripped conservation authorities and municipalities of their ability to halt development of sensitive environments. Shameful!
