I strongly support robust environmental protections and the preservation of endangered species. I oppose any measures that would weaken existing safeguards under the Endangered Species Act, 2007 or allow for expedited approvals for industrial or developmental projects on protected lands. I am particularly concerned about proposals that would override established environmental laws in designated special economic zones. The proposed interim changes to the Endangered Species Act, 2007, and the introduction of the Species Conservation Act, 2025, risk undermining the integrity of species protection in Ontario. Not to mention the Indigenous peoples of Canada. Conservation efforts must be guided by science and ecological responsibility—not by economic expediency.
