I highly discourage repealing any kind of laws or regulations that protect endangered species for the sake of the economy. This is short-sighted/short-term thinking that will result in long-term issues pertaining to the environment. Environmental assessments are not just "meaningless red tape" that prevent development, but a method to ensure that development that proceeds is done properly. Without proper assessments and community involvement, rushing to build out infrastructure or housing may result in damage due to flooding, weather, soil shifting, etc. It's not like these regulations were put into place for no reason; the reasons are valid and must be considered before any action is taken.
Again, rushing to build our "economy" is useless if the resulting product is subject to environmental damage; or a world devoid of unique biodiversity that makes Ontario so great.
