I oppose this bill in its entirety. I am exhausted. I am so tired of having to submit comments like this, having to send letters and attend rallies, of being ashamed of my government. I am so tired of reading about ecological and environmental disasters around the world, and all while having a government that barely acknowledges the importance of clean air and water and a healthy environment. I do not want progress at the expense of the health of our environment. I want rigorous and exhaustive environmental assessments and absolutely bulletproof protections for endangered species, species at risk, and environmentally sensitive areas. Progress means nothing if we lose the health of our environment in the process. Right now, the northwest of our province is on fire. The forests that provide the oxygen we need to survive are disappearing at an alarming rate. We cannot afford to lose more forests, more wetlands, and more species. It's not a secret that we need to do better. The causes of climate change and biodiversity loss are not a mystery. I am deeply ashamed to live in a place with a government and Premier who disregards science and facts in the name of progress. There are ways to grow our economy that are sustainable and environmentally friendly. What this bill proposes is incredibly harmful, narrow-minded, and shows a incredible lack of foresight. Is this government truly incapable of sitting down and doing any real work beyond just saying yes to developers? This disgusting bill cannot be allowed to pass.
