Comment in regard to ERO 025-0380.

I disagree with the changes proposed to the Endangered Species Act, our environment should not suffer in the name of progress as outlined in the proposal summary: “The current approach to the protection and conservation of species at risk is complicated, takes too long to complete, and causes unnecessary delays and costs for housing, transit, and critical infrastructure.”.

The before mentioned “delays” are critical in holding companies accountable for proper environmental impact assessment and remediation. Allowing companies to start a project without submitting a permit application and awaiting its approval relies solely on companies acting with care and compassion for the environment rather than trying to make the most profit.

The additional change of allowing the Ontario government to add and remove species at its discretion is an obvious ploy to allow the government to remove species from the list that stand in the way of projects.
