A few questions about Bill 5:

- How are “important economic zones” approved for the bypasses/“simplified” requirements? Why isn’t there a more clear outline of the criteria available to the public?
- Who will be consulted on approving any “important economic zones”?
- Who is being silenced through these changes?

A prompt/open question:

Bill 5’s “special economic zones” concept along with much of the changes in the Engandered Species Act are short-cuts. It is a partial-bypass of a process that exists for a reason. This short-cut/bypass will make it easier to flatten hills and fill in wetlands - all in the name of the economy. I understand the desire to help the economy, but…if Bill 5 and short-cutting important processes is our idea of an “economic solution” or “unleashing our economy” then have we really thought outside the box? Or are we simply defaulting to historic take-what-we-want and flatten-to-build perspectives?
