I'm begging you to stand up for the conservation standards that are trying to protect and maintain the fragile ecosystems and animals in Ontario.

The alarming changes proposed in Bill 5, The Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act, 2025 would repeal Ontario's Endangered Species Act, 2007, replacing it with a drastically weakened framework for the protection of our province's vulnerable species. The proposed changes to the Endangered Species Act cruelly disregards the bare minimum of conservational consultation and will only perpetuate harm, death, and damage to the delicate natural splendour of this province that this government is supposed to represent.

Think about how you don't see as many frogs as you used to when you were a kid, or how you see fewer butterflies there are now. Protecting the species and plants of this province is our duty for this generation, and our kids who grow up seeing less and less of what we took for granted. You, me, and all the people who live here are caretakers of this place we call home. Habitats are lovingly cultivated over decades through a slow, intentional process– they do not deserve to be ripped apart due to negligence. Ontario should be a leader in species protection, and not be a legacy of harm and easily avoidable cruelty. Please uphold the Endangered Species Act and Species At Risk advisory committee, and don't amend it to break down the conservational protections and consultations that make our land safer and kinder to all of those who live in it.
