When a species becomes extinct it is permanent. An endangered species is on a path to permanent extinction unless we provide all the protections and remediation efforts. The absence of a member species from an ecosystem impacts all of the other species in the system, often times this includes humans. Consultations around the protection of at risk species should be extensive and detailed. They should not be hurried and done without serious consideration. After all, the impact is permanent. I oppose the dismantling and restructuring of the endanger species act, especially when the aim is to expedite construction projects. We are not the only species on the planet, yet we hold the power to disproportionately impact all others. That should always be a consideration in our decisions.
