I am writing to strongly oppose any proposal to weaken or repeal the Endangered Species Act in Ontario. This legislation is a vital safeguard for species at risk and the ecosystems they depend on. Diluting its protections would have irreversible consequences for Ontario’s biodiversity and natural heritage.
The Endangered Species Act not only protects wildlife, but also plays a critical role in preserving ecological balance, supporting biodiversity, and safeguarding the natural systems we all depend on. Healthy ecosystems help combat climate change by storing carbon, regulating water cycles, and protecting against erosion and flooding. In turn, this helps protect our natural resources—clean air, fresh water, fertile soil—that are essential to our well-being and economy.
Removing or weakening this legislation prioritizes short-term industrial gain over the long-term health and sustainability of our province. Ontarians deserve a government that values science-based environmental policy and takes seriously its responsibility to protect nature—not just for today, but for generations to come.
I urge decision-makers to reject any changes that would compromise the Endangered Species Act and instead strengthen our commitment to conservation and climate resilience.

Building more roads while endangering wildlife of any sort is a sign that we have elected a regressive government to lead our province.

Until the attitude of our Conservative changes dramatically, I will never vote Conservative, nor will my friends.
