There is nothing reasonable or balanced about this proposed change. It is one more step in the Ontario government's ongoing dismantling of environmental and species protections. Its references to "habitat," and corresponding limits to protection, reveal no understanding of the science of species and their habitats. It politicizes environmental decision-making and removes transparency and public oversight of decisions.
