This bill is detrimental to Indigenous rights and the environment as a whole. Imposing Bill 5 will harm the air that we breathe, the water that we drink, weaken protections against our most vulnerable species, and so much more. Communities most affected by this are the Indigenous peoples of this territory and this bill will act as a way to evade adequate consultation when it comes to development plans impacting their land and their livelihoods. For these reasons: I oppose bill 5. I want stronger environmental protections and the protection of endangered species. I oppose shortcuts for industrial projects. I oppose overriding the law in special economic zones.
