As a conservationist, angler, hunter, father of 2 and lifelong Ontarian I strongly oppose any dilution of our endangered species protection laws. We have been blessed for so many years in this beautiful part of the world with a unique and beautiful ecosystem.
It is the place where I find peace, where my children and I can bond best and where I can experience a fully honest connection with the lives my ancestors and countrymen who lived before me.
This experience is of paramount importance to a healthy and cohesive society. The land we live on is not just a place to make money but a place to fully live and rejoice in the graces God has given us.
To risk the destruction of species who have been here for centuries before us for the sake of a subdivision is a tragedy. A frog, insect or hummingbird may seem of little consequence now, but what of the deer, salmon, turkeys and songbirds that enrich many people's lives? Will they too be stricken from the list of our priorities for the sake of development and "progress"?
Please consider the lives that we live now and the heritage that we preserve and cherish before making a rash, irreversible decision to satisfy the whims of a temporary and wholly human-engineered "crisis" that most citizens never asked for or helped create in the first place.
