To put it bluntly, this Act would cause more damage than good.
Simply registering a project and allowing work to begin isn't enough. The regulations that are, and will be, in place for projects to follow don't mean issues cannot nor will not arise. Having more steps before projects can be set in motion helps minimize more potential damage to the environment, ecosystems, and over stepping on indigenious land.
This Act comes with the potential in causing strained relations with First Nations People in Ontario, by opening up the gate to developing on their land without their consent. An action that should not be overlooked if having good ties and good relations is something we wish to continue building together.
Moreover, this Act has the potential for negative impacts on Ontario's wildlife and ecosystems. The changes and actions listed read as though caring for Ontario wildlife, and it's preservation, was taken into considerstion. However, it also reads as though not all wildlife is safe and that is unacceptable.
