I object to any water taking at the Redford Walker Pit 381769 Cons 4 NDR West Grey. Ministry reference number 025-0587
As a neighbouring resident within 120 m of the subject property I feel notification for an amendment of this magnitude should be required. No notification was given.
Permission to test and monitor water wells was given for the purpose of the expansion. Not for a wash plant. Dave Munro who is no longer with Walker Aggregates looked me in the eyes and said “No wash plant coming, never will”.
There is no pond located on the current 100 acre parcel of licensed land.
They will be draining our ground water, our drinking water and then contaminating it.
This can not be allowed, as a category 3, the highest risk of unacceptable environmental impact. The Saugeen river and its wetlands are a stones throw away. Multiple family homes my own included are at risk of water contamination and other adverse affects.
As no notice was given, I have not been able to get any of the supporting material. This is unacceptable.
For an aggregate pit that’s only licenced for 100,000 tonnes annually why so much water? To be pumped 24 hrs a day 365 days a year is unthinkable and unnecessary. Are they planning to haul in gravel to wash it?
I stand to object any wash plant, any water pumping at this site. This is not a suitable site to be washing gravel as you state it’s the highest risk category.
Walker has proven to not be a good neighbour nor a good steward of the land.
Water is life, water is sacred and water must be protected. This does not honour our land, our forefathers or the next generation.
