Local firefighters may not have the specialized training, equipment,
or knowledge to safely combat a lithium-ion battery fire, potentially
escalating the incident and environmental consequence
The site relies solely on municipal water or insufficient on-site
water storage (e.g., water tanks) for fire suppression. A BESS fire can require
thousands of gallons of water per minute for hours or even days
.
Concern: Without a guaranteed and immense water supply, firefighting
efforts will be ineffective, increasing the risk of a catastrophic event
There is also the concerns about the contaminated water in the event of a fire.
That water will enter the ground, reach the tile drainage system, will also reach the ditches and could flow to our nearest river which is the Scotch River and South Nation.
Sincerely, a nearest family owned operated dairy farmer
