You are the elected officials for myself and all the Headwaters Residents. You should and must make decisions for all of the residents, not just a handful of people from the gravel pit. The thought of removing 2,500,000 liters/day of water from this area let alone the extra 5,000,000 liters/day that the gravel pit owners are applying for is absolutely ridiculous. There has already been a strain on our water table supply, especially in the drier years.
The quarry proposal of blasting 180 feet below the water table would be a water quality and quantity disaster for our Hornings Mills community and surrounding areas. So why all this water? And why now? Where is it coming from? Where will it go? If, as they say, it will be used for washing gravel, what are the contamination risks? How will they be dealt with? Is our water guaranteed pure? For how long? What compensation are they offering if it all goes wrong? You probably already know the answer to the last question. Please do not approve this application.
