I am a 71 year old woman who stays fit by getting around downtown Toronto on my bike. I've lived in downtown Toronto for more than 50 years and during that time Toronto changed from a city I felt I could bike through safely to one that felt life-threatening on a bike. The recent creation of bike lanes on city streets has been a godsend for me. I can also say that many other world class cities have been challenged by traffic associated with rapid population growth, but I don't know of any who have decided that "more space for cars" is the correct solution. Finally, I am also deeply concerned that Bill 60 will give provincial politicians too much power over municipal decisions - the 3 levels of government were created to clarify who is responsible for what, and Bill 60 is attempting to change those long-standing agreements without proper consultation.
