Bill 60 reeks of overreach by Doug Ford's provincial government. It's oppressive and diminishes the power of voters on a municipal level. If Doug Ford wishes to continue to dabble in municipal politics, then he should have stayed as a councilor with the City of Toronto. As the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) has noted on its website: "Municipalities, relying on local knowledge and community input, are best positioned to balance traffic flow with active transportation, road safety, and community needs. Biking is a key tool for combating congestion; bike lanes are an essential element of multi-modal planning that removes cars from the road for short trips and transit connections, thus alleviating congestion, not causing it." The preceding is obvious. Why is Doug Ford needlessly undermining municipal authority with the needless introduction of Bill 60? Bill 60 appears to be a vindictive act that is directed at the City of Toronto councilors who have offended Doug Ford's fragile ego. Doug Ford has justifiably whined about the economic problems being caused by Donald Trump's ill-conceived tariffs. Then Doug Ford turns around and behaves in a similar thoughtless and self-serving manner in his dealings with this province's municipalities. Doug Ford and Donald Trump are clearly more alike than different.
