Point one: With an increasing number of commuters choosing to ride bicycles to and from work, why discourage that? Why discourage an activity that creates no emissions, and helps people to live healthy lives for longer while being less of a drain on our healthcare system?
Point two: Previously, many arterial roads (Bloor st in Toronto comes to mind) had no parking for 3 hours during afternoon rush hour, prime time for small businesses along these routes. Drivers weren't allowed to stop and shop. Since the bike lane was installed, parking has been accommodated along most of Bloor making quick purchases from stores convenient. Why ban parking again? After all, isn't Ontario supposed to be "open for business"?
