Bike infrastructure does not worsen congestion, and the government's own internal research confirms this. In fact, obstructing sustainable transportation and limiting people's options to choose modes other than driving is extremely likely to make congestion worse.
Beyond the egregious lack of evidence for the policies in this bill, this is unnecessary and wasteful government overreach. The provincial government, especially a government that claims to want to reduce "red tape", has no business telling municipalities what they can and can't do on their own roads to best serve their residents. I am deeply disappointed in this bill and this government's continual meddling in municipal business.
