I'm sorry - this is the year 2025, not 1960: a modern city that wants to 1) improve the quality of life for its citizens, and 2) wants to improve transport throughput, would ADD more bicycle lanes, nor remove or inhibit their installation. No city in the world ever became great by depending on (usually single occupant) private motor vehicles MORE than they already do. Even you - the reader of my comment - know this. I mean I drive a car sometimes but that is only because urban planning mistakes of the past have made me helpless without one - is that what we should be, helpless?

Doug Ford needs to understand that Toronto and cities like it are (I can't believe I'm about to type this) big cities (not little rural towns) which need more transport options, not fewer, and private automobiles are far and away the least space efficient mode of transport, so deserve no special priority of any kind. Encouraging driving a car MORE often is bad for the environment, your safety, your waistline, and your wallet. This is all pretty much common sense stuff, so I just presume some auto lobby group has Doug Ford's ear. In which case I understand his stance, but he should not be leading any level of government. Mr Ford you are supposed to want to improve Ontarians' lives, not just get you and your friends rich - did you not know that?

Thanks for reading.
