Hello, I’m a 32 year old…

Hello,

I’m a 32 year old professional that grew up in Barrie my whole life. We recently moved to Midhurst Springwater and sold our property in Barrie.

As this directly affects my growing family and I, it’s concerning that Barrie is trying to expand its boundaries for what Alex Nuttall states is for manufacturing growth. There is no reason to expand Barrie’s boundaries for manufacturing growth when there are vacant manufacturing facilities already in Barrie that are currently empty because manufacturing has left the city. Instead Alex should be tasked with filling the already vacant lands and manufacturing facilities. There are multiple vacant land and facilities already in Barrie that could be used, so why haven’t they?

It’s unreasonable to expand the boundaries. There are tons of vacant newly constructed homes in the Barrie area sitting empty as well. I’m afraid the direction here is to expand Barrie’s tax income and that will not fix the concerns the city already has. This will be terrible for the community and tax payers in Midhurst Springwater. No one in the community wants this.

What companies and investment have been confirmed to come into this area if this land transfer happens? There isn’t any.

Why can’t manufacturers invest in Springwater?

PLEASE, do not let this land transfer happen. As a Midhurst Springwater resident, I do not approve of this.
