The plan to bring in additional 7000 families is not great.
1. The type of housing is small shoe box condos again, which have already been sitting on the market forever. The people who move to Oakville want to settle there for long term and build strong communities. The studio apartment, and 1 bedroom apartments are single person and non family living spaces which contradicts what Oakville stands for. There are no 4 bedroom condos and very few 3 bedroom condos which is what is needed for families to stay there long term. No shoe box condos but ideal long term living spaces.
2. Roads can take additional traffic. Dundas and 403 is always jammed up during commuting hours - can you make the 407 free for Oakville residents to alleviate the traffic issues?
3. Support structure and communities, daycares and schools - the current wait times for infant daycare admission is 15 months ( I'm waiting in line). For toddlers is 9 months ( I'm waiting in line). This is ridiculous - no more housing till we don't get daycares and schools capacity added.
4. Parking spots for GO train - there is no parking spots today when we try to take the GO train in the morning and take 15+ mins to find a spot. By adding 7000 households or approx 10000+ new commuters, are you adding at least 2000 parking spots at the Go station?
5. Local transit - is there a plan to build a local transit system linking with TTC, GO and Mississauga transit with Oakville?
