I have lived in Oakville since 1976, regularly using Oakville transit and the Trafalgar Go Station until 2008. The Trafalgar Go station, the Trafalgar Mall, the Kidlogix daycare Centre and the Holiday Inn on Argus Road have been regular destinations and the traffic gridlock is as bad today as it was back in the 1970s. Adding high density residential in this area will make this area a traffic nightmare both for those travelling to this area and those travelling through this area. I already try to avoid driving through town and instead use the always-congested QEW just to get between the Dorval Drive and Trafalgar Road intersection. I can't imagine how I would approach this area in the future if the high density residential is allowed to proceed. I have a disability and need to drive.
The Town of Oakville has a much better plan regarding the density of housing is this area and their advice needs to be followed.
The type of housing proposed for this area gives developers maximum profits without providing the much needed housing for those with low incomes or those needing supportive housing. The Ontario government needs to put people first.
