I am a senior living in Oakville Ontario, my family has lived here for 50 years.  I would like to ask why the Province continues to not listen to our town councilors, the mayor and our residence when it comes to development of condos on Midtown's small parcel of land?  TOC is proposing a cluster of 50-plus-storey towers cramming in over 6,000 tiny housing units, producing an unacceptable level of density designed for investors, with no matching infrastructure improvements or community amenities.  Why is it that government is ignoring the infrastructure needed for this type of development?

Currently, condo sales are crashing, so why does the Province want to move forward with an irresponsible plan that benefits a handpicked developer while ignoring the residents input and that of Oakville's Official Plan?  Since the beginning of last year at least 28 projects in Toronto, with more than 5,700 units have been canceled and or postponed.  It would take 58 months to sell the available stock at the current rate of sales, least we not forget that Midtown Oakville TOC is over 6,000 units.  This scenario will definitely penalize those of us who already live in condos to be able to sell at some point in the future and realize a return on our investment.

We, in Oakville do not want a Condo Jungle like Mississauga, we value our green spaces and the wonderful job the Town of Oakville is doing to maintain a livable Oakville.  Squeezing 6,000 units onto a small parcel of land without the necessary infrastructure to support it is just poor planning and sends a message that the Province cares more about the needs of a developer than it does about the residents of Oakville.  It also gives off a vibe of American politics wherein the Province is threatening and forcing it's will on the People.
Now the Province wants to rezone the property and take over complete control without Town input. An article today in the Toronto Star states Doug Ford is siding with the Developer who is a close friend. Again, vibes of American politics when the Premier of Ontario puts a friend's desires ahead of an entire Town, it's Mayor, Councilors and Residents. We the People deserve better and do not appreciate the powerplay by the Province and Mr. Ford..

So once again I ask that the Province let our officials continue their plans for growth of our Town without being forced into a development that would cause huge gridlock and is totally wrong for Oakville.
