I have lived in Oakville for 33 years. Our town has changed significantly and I no longer like living here. The traffic is this town is terrible. It takes 2 or 3 lights to make a left turn. I avoid going south on Trafalgar in the afternoon as returning involves a time-consuming crush of traffic as well as cars from the Go Train lot. Trafalgar road cannot be widened. The people who live in this proposed TOC development will have cars. Has anyone taken into consideration the additional heavy density approved for the areas north of Dundas? Trafalgar north of Dundas, already zoned for high density, will be crammed with condo buildings right up to Burnhamthorpe. Where will all the additional cars go? We already have a traffic problem in this town; why make it a lot worse?
In 2024 Oakville initiated construction on 3,679 new homes representing approximately 134 per cent of its 2024 goals. Why are we considering a development of such very high density (the TOC) when we have exceeded our targets?
The Town's OPA 70 was carefully planned and is supported by council and the citizens. The TOC is a developer- driven plan, not in the best interests of Oakville. I oppose the Midtown MZO's because it will add extreme density to a town already struggling with traffic and high growth.
