025-1368, Transit-Oriented Community in Oakville
The MZO ignore several keys items:
1. It ignores the views of the locally elected officials, and residents as already set out in OPA 70.
2. The density is excessive by comparison with all other developments.
3. The Transit situation is already very well developed in this part of Oakville. Oakville GO station is the second busiest railway station in Ontario after Toronto’s Union Station and as such is already overcrowded during the rush hour commuting hours.
4. Road traffic in this area is currently at grid lock several times a week during rush hours due to accidents and delays on the QEW in both directions. It is hard to see how this proposal will not make the situation worse, even with costly infrastructure changes.
5. Why is there only one developer for this project? Why no bid process, why not spread the risk among several developers for a more manageable housing project of this kind?
6. The timeline for development is lengthy, does not do much to address the so-called housing crisis.
